Trip to Autos International  Part 1
Hosted by Central Coast 356 Club, USA

Sometimes you have to go right to the source to get all the information you need to make a decision.

After a lot of work, my 1959 cabriolet project is finally ready for the interior.  As per the Kardex, it will require a red leather/vinyl interior to go with the meissen blue paint.  Looking at the small samples sent to me by Autos I was having a hard time committing to a color. I wasn't
satisfied the way the leather matched the vinyl, so I decided to make the trip and see some full size examples.

The trip was very interesting and gave me more confidence that Autos is the right place to send my car for the full "treatment".
I also am going with a couple of upgrades over the original setup. First, it will be a full leather interior as opposed to the front
seat only being leather.  I am also going with the zippered back window found on later cars.

I hope you enjoy these photos and if you ever have a chance, stop by and check it out for yourself.  There are always a bunch
of very nice cars to see along with some great projects underway.

Some of the shop area. In the back are the seat assembly tables. They do some nice work with the foam to make
the seats as good (or better?) than new.

The leather loft is a little messy after we pillaged through all the reds.  The quality of the leather seemed very good,
it was all very supple and fresh.

Another overhead view of some of the shop.  These cars were getting carpet installed.

A nice 59 cab under final assembly.  This is going to be one happy owner.

This is "the man".   Autos secret weapon, a master craftsman who does all the convertible top frame restorations.

Great care is taken to protect the cars during their stay at Autos.

Here is a seat ready to go out to Wihoits 356 restoration shop.  This is the red color I am going with for my project.

The top fits perfectly and looks great.

This is the interior of the 59 cab. This is the lighter of the two reds. Mine will be a shade darker.
The oatmeal carpet is the same as I will be getting.

Here is the mockup of a convertible so they can do a complete top restoration before putting it on the car.

A 356 is truly a work of art!   Hope you enjoyed the photos!
